With a focus on the development of a 21st century energy strategy for the town, Cavendish constructed a 150 kW photovoltaic array in 2016; the photovoltaic field has been placed on the south facing slope just to the south of the wastewater treatment facility. The array generates net-metered electric power that is fed into the Green Mountain Power grid and results in the project generating enough revenue to pay down the note and to reduce the electrical consumption costs of the various Town of Cavendish facilities that are serviced by Green Mountain Power. This is a cost effective strategy which will benefit the town for many years to come.
The Telecommunications Committee was formed in 2014 to investigate ways to improve the quality, reliability, and speed of telecommunications available to Cavendish residents. It has engaged with residents, conducted surveys, initiated discussions with stage agencies and private foundations, and met with telephone, cable, and wireless companies in its ongoing effort to bring reliable high-speed internet to all residents of Cavendish.
